Artist statement
I try to capture a moment so fully that the viewer feels what it was like to stand there: a sky catching fire over a ridge, a hummingbird lit up at golden hour, an old barn standing against the wind. I look for one clear subject and a lot of sky. These places remind me we're never alone, and I hope my pictures give people a little of the peace they've given me.

Retired officer finds a new beat in Hill Country skies
After years in law enforcement and a recent spine surgery, Texas Hill Country photographer Ryan Trammell has spent his recovery sharing the sunsets, hummingbirds and back roads he's loved for years. With help from God, friends and family, he's turning his photographs into prints, a local show, and a new chapter. "We're never alone," Ryan says.
